My FIV Cat

I want to tell you about my sweet cat Charlie who just passed away at the age of 15. I rescued him from my back yard nine years ago. He was 5 or 6 then. When I had him checked at the vet, they told me he was FIV positive. That’s like human HIV or Aids. Everyone said I should put him down but I did some research. I read that FIV cats could live a full and healthy life so I took him home. He was the most gentle and loving cat. He loved to cuddle with me. He never gave me one bit of trouble. He even loved other cats. In the end the FIV did catch up with him and his white blood cell count diminished. But Charlie gave me nine years of wonderful companionship.

So I say to all of you who care about cats – please don’t discard one just because they are FIV positive. They will give you much love and affection. You will be the richer for saving them.
